COVID-19 CAMP UPDATE
Southwinds parents,
Happy Wednesday!! I’m hoping you had the most amazing Easter with your family and are enjoying this extra family time that California likes to call ‘shelter in place.’
The reason for this message is to update you about summer camp. Unfortunately, Jenness Park has officially canceled middle school summer camp. Hume has yet to release an official COVID-19 statement for their summer camps. Whatever Hume decides, we want to do what is safest for our students. I share with your students the disappointment they may be feeling with this announcement. It breaks my heart to know how much our students are missing.
All the social media posts of extra time with family makes me realize that the time away from regular activity is giving all of us an opportunity to get to know our family better and start new family traditions. We’re all having more time to spend with God and just be still.
I pray that each and every family apart that’s part of this ministry and far beyond is breaking boundaries in their faith and making more time for their own relationship with our Father.
I’m working tirelessly with our camps and leadership team to ensure that all of your deposits are used as an early deposit for camp 2021, or returned to you. As soon as I have an official word from our camps, I will relay that information to you.
I want to let you know that our student ministry team is constantly brainstorming activities and events for our students in quarantine and in-person to make up for all that they may have missed out on.
For the time being, our student ministry team will begin working on a “Weekend Retreat” that will help build and establish those memories missed from camp 2020 when we can reconvene as a church body! We’ll update you as soon as we have more information.
If you have any prayers, questions or ideas - please do not hesitate to reach out to me. If your student is struggling, please let me know so I can reach out to them. We may not be able to meet in person, but the entire world is learning that the church was never a building but the people. Please stay safe and once again, please do not hesitate to reach out.
