Isaiah's ministry condemned the empty ritualism of his day and the idolatry into which the people had fallen. He foresaw the coming Babylonian captivity, and some of his prophecies were fulfilled in his lifetime. Isaiah's prophecies concerning Christ's first coming have given his words their strongest vindication—and further assurances in the prophecies of Christ's second coming.
